I'm no stranger to blogging, but it is always hard to find the way to begin a new blog. There is so much to say, and yet nothing at all to speak of. I don't know you yet. Even if I know you in real life, I don't know you as a blog reader.
Welcome to this little corner of the web. If you're reading this, you know this is the blog of Hidden Jewels, my clothing design company. Perhaps you expect this blog to be nothing more than another advertizing platform. I suppose, if advertizement were my specialty rather than fashion, I would have all sorts of dreams for how to use this blog for promotion, but that isn't my goal here. Instead, I want to encourage you. I don't care if you buy my clothes, if you ask me to design a wedding dress for you, or if you can't stand my style. If you're here, that's all that matters for the moment, and as your hostess I want to bless you. I want to offer a smile, a word of encouragement, and maybe even a few good ideas.
If you've bounced around the site at all, you already know what my thoughts are on fashion/modesty/beauty. I'm God's girl; I want Him to dress me. Of course, that's easy to say; it's harder to live out. But I want that. I want to live it. In fact, though I tremble at times, I'm excited about the fact that He's making the decisions. This blog is a way to celebrate that.
I want to walk through this journey with company - your company. I've been into "modest dressing" since before my teen years, and yet I still feel that I am only beginning to learn. ....You see, I still have to learn that it's not about being "into" something. This isn't a fad. This isn't a "lifestyle choice" (though it is a choice, and it is a lifestyle). This is about a complete attitude change. Even this very month, I am learning in a deeper way what it means to surrender everything to God. It's not about measuring hemlines and heels. It's about my heart. It's about His heart. And His heart is deep.
So here, we're going to talk about everything. We're going to talk about hemlines, and heels, and how they affect us and others. We're going to talk about color, and how wonderful it is, and how to know what looks best on us. We're going to talk about shopping, and how fun and frustrating it can be. We're going to talk about covetousness, and how to battle that sin. We're going to talk about hair, and natural beauty products. We're going to talk about young men, and how they affect the way we see ourselves, and how we affect them. We're going to talk about designs, attitudes, scripture, manners, history.....anything and everything related to being beautiful inside and out. I don't know everything - I hardly know anything. I'm not going to pretend to be an expert when I'm not (hold me to that!). But we're going to talk. And we're going to have fun, and grow, and learn more about God, ourselves, and beauty.
That's the goal. That's the aim. Are you with me? Let's begin!
