What better way to get to know a designer's style than to peek inside her own closet? Below is a collection of real outfits - things from my wardrobe that have been a part of developing my design.
One of my favorite skirts. Designed and made by me.
I designed and made the tunic top out of colorful knit fabric.
The pencil skirt was an alteration from an awkward-length skirt. |
Many of my garments have a heavy vintage influence in their design. I admire the feminine touch of past decades that is lost in many modern styles, but I like to update the look for today, with details such as the ruffles around the neck of this knit dress.
The skirt is an alteration, and the ruffle vest is made from a jumper that was outdated in style and was no longer being worn. "Up-cycling" old clothing is one of my favorite techniques for adding to my wardrobe.

One of the first formals I designed. Once again, history bears an influence in the lines of the garment, but the overall look is distinct and elegant without sacrificing modesty.
Above: Who says sweat-pant fabric has to look sloppy? Made from snuggly but beautifully-printed fabric on the bottom, and an "up-cycled" T-shirt on top, this dress is one of the warmest - and coziest! - in my closet.
Left: Every woman needs a staple denim skirt or two in her wardrobe, and this is one of mine. I have no clue how many times I've worn it since I made it. The shirt is also my own design, and features lots of "fabric art", with gathers and a rosette at the neckline. |
